What is the difference between Wedding Liability Insurance and Cancellation Insurance?
Wedding Liability Insurance is on your side if your wedding causes damage to the venue or injury to a guest. Wedding Liability Insurance is often required in your venue's rental agreement to protect you and them if something happens.
Wedding Cancellation Insurance is there to help you get your money back if something totally unforeseen forces you to cancel or postpone your wedding.
Does my venue require me to have wedding insurance?
Wedding Liability Insurance is often required in your venue's rental agreement. Many people ask - doesn't the venue already have insurance? Yes, yes, they do. But, their insurance is intended to cover damage or injury caused by the venue's owners or staff. It will not cover damage or injury you cause - that's your responsibility and why you need Wedding Liability Insurance.
Some venues require Wedding Cancellation Insurance, but most do not. Based on the contract, the venue is entitled to keep whatever non-refundable amount. Wedding Cancellation is there to reimburse you for the amount your venue, caterer, or other service providers are not required to refund you.
Who can purchase my policy?
Anyone can purchase the wedding policy. However, we recommend that the person listed as the insured on the policy review and agree to the Terms & Conditions before purchase.
When should I purchase my policy?
Although WeddingInsurance.com makes it easy to purchase until the last minute, we recommend buying at least a few days before the first day of your policy. That way, if your venue requires changes, one of our friendly wedding insurance representatives can assist you. We’re available M-F 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST.
How does the claim process work, and what documentation do I need?
Filing a claim is easy! It is important to notify us immediately in the event of an incident - even if you don’t know yet if a claim will be necessary.
Fill out this simple online claim form, and we’ll submit it to the appropriate insurance carrier with all your policy documents. You can hold on to any additional documentation or evidence to provide directly to the assigned adjuster.
Is there a refund if I cancel my policy?
You can cancel your policy at any time up until the start date of your policy period. Most refunds will be subject to the refund fee indicated in the Terms and Conditions before your purchase.
Refund requests due to venue rejection of our policy terms will be processed in full once we are provided with written proof of the rejection in either a statement from the venue or a copy of the venue's insurance requirements. Refunds will only be returned to the card used for purchase.
If your account or card has been closed, we must still attempt to refund the original card. A check will be issued if payment was check, cash, or if the bank rejects the refund attempt.
Policy Cancellation Overview
All liability insurance orders are eligible for a refund as long as the policy start date has not commenced. Event Cancellation insurance cannot be cancelled after purchase.
We guarantee your venue will accept our liability insurance. If your venue rejects our insurance, we require written proof from the venue of the rejection. If we are unable to resolve the rejection with a policy endorsement, venue-specific wording, alternate forms, etc., potentially at additional cost to you, we will refund your policy in full.
All other refunds will be subject to a refund fee. All refund fees are fully disclosed during our insurance purchase process and will equal the Administration Charge on your policy. All taxes, stamping fees, and premium will be refunded in full.
How do I request a refund?
All refund requests need to be in writing and can be sent to info@theeventhelper.com. If you call in and ask for a refund, you will be directed to email your request to info@theeventhelper.com or to the individual representative, as any cancellation request must be received in writing from the Named Insured on the policy.
Once we receive your request, we will notify each of your certificate holders that the policy has been cancelled and that coverage no longer exists under the policy.
When will I get my refund?
www.TheEventHelper.com will typically issue all basic refunds within two business days; however, your credit card company or bank account may take additional time to post the credit to your account. Please allow 3-14 business days for the refund to post to your account. If you are requesting a refund because a venue rejected our insurance coverage, the additional investigation necessary may delay the refund.
Refunds will only be returned to the card used for purchase. If your account or card has been closed, we must still attempt to refund to the original card. A check will be issued if payment was check, cash, or if the bank rejects the refund attempt.
Can I get wedding insurance through my existing homeowners' or renters' policy?
Can I get wedding insurance through my existing homeowners' or renters' policy?
Some homeowners or renters policies will offer this option. However, we recommend you ask how different types of claims will be covered. Often, a homeowner’s policy will only provide coverage if you personally cause the damage or injury. You’d be left with a huge financial burden if the incident was caused by one of your guests.
My venue says my Vendors needs to be covered. Can I add them?
Any vendor (like your DJ, Bartender, Caterer, Wedding Planner or Florist) should have their own insurance since they are their own separate business. Vendors need their own coverage in case they cause damage/injury at your event.
If your venue's rental agreement holds you responsible for your vendor's activity, you will want to make sure those vendors have the appropriate General Liability insurance coverage and Liquor Liability, if they are a caterer/bartender. If they don't, we can help!
